I will be moving shortly

I am trying to figure out how to move with all of my sites and archives. I have to leave blogger, because they are practicing a policy I will write about after I've left. I have written them about my concern, and they basically told me to stuff it. It was not their problem. Oh yeah? Wait 'til the press gets a hold of it. Then we'll see just who's problem it is!

Enough Talk: Time for Action

On September 9, 2006, there was a rally held in Washington, DC. It was held in front of the White House, and 30 people ended up going to jail. Not because they were unruly, they were not. It was because they laid down on the pavement as if laying down their lives for their Darfurian brother and sisters.

Then there was another rally on September 17th in New York City. It was held in front of the United Nations complex. Thousands of people came from all over the world. Those who were unable to come held vigils in their own communities. It was a day of prayer, hope and outreach.

It is important that you continue reading this article. It is rather lengthy, but it is important. Thank you.

The Absent Apologies

The New York Post has written an interesting editorial regarding the reactions to a sentence in the speech Pope Benedict XVI gave in his hometown in Germany.

It is quite interesting to watch this 'peaceful religion' protest, burn the Pope in effagy, threaten his life, murder Christans (as if this were new), burn down Churches, and all this is done after the apologies.

Excuse me, but go to hell. Who do you think you are to tell the Pope anything? You do not have the first clue of worthiness to kiss the ground he walks on, nor do you have the worth to kiss the ground upon which I walk.

Grow up, get a life, and stop threatening people. One of these days some people are not going to care what their government says, and they will take care of business themselves. Then you will find that Americans are tolerant up to a point. Cross that line? You will be in grave danger.

It is now time to stop and apologize to us! Have a good day.

CIA Cover Blown by Spain and Germany

Germany is considering indicting some American CIA officers for work they had done in 2003. During the time while the USA is at war, Spain may have the identities of these of these officers, and Germany wishes to pursue kidnapping and torture charges against these field officers who gallantly risked their lives to keep the world safe from terrorists. Nice way to say thank you, eh?

I recommend these men get back home and go underground. There is no way to fight a 'civil' war against people who think dieing is better than living. Can you say, "Kamikase"? The only way to stop them is to kill them first. It is not our fault the rest of the world is full of appeasers.

Voter ID Legislation

It's about time.
Today, the House of Representatives passed HR 4844, the Federal Election Integrity Act of 2006. This is an excellent piece of legislation that can accomplish for all fifty states everything we've been trying to do in California and more.
This Act calls for everyone who votes to have a picture ID. If you need a picture ID to use your credit card, buy cigarrettes, buy liquer, get your food stamps and welfare check, get on a plane, then it should be reasonable that you would be able to use your picture ID to prove you are who say you are when you go to vote!

If you would like to know how your representative voted, click here. Also, if you would like to help, you may by signing up here.

Tell The pope To Stay Out Of Effigy

Well the peaceful Muslims have vowed to burn the Pope in some place called Effigy so he should avoid that place. I don't know where it is and I can't find it on a map but if the Pope was planning on going there he should reconsider and go to a Christian friendly country (so avoid the US).

A member of the peaceful religion known as Islam has declared that the Pope should be put to death for insulting Islam.

A notorious Muslim extremist told a demonstration in London yesterday that the Pope should face execution.
Anjem Choudary said those who insulted Islam would be "subject to capital punishment".

So folks, what we have is confirmation that the Pope was absolutely correct when he read 600 year old words that described an evil and violent Islam. Right after he read those words, the followers of Islam became upset that he said such a horrible thing and then they became evil and violent. There are the usual death threats, the usual calls for a beheading, the usual riots in the streets, and the usual bunch of idiots screaming like deranged lunatics, all in the name of Mohammad, the child molesting prophet. Oops, I insulted Islam. Come and try is all I have to say.

Is there any question that we need to rid the world of these animals? They are stuck in a time long ago in a far away place. They still run around following the words of a child molester who said that everyone should be forced by the sword to follow Islam. Mohammad was a false prophet who gave bad advice and this bunch of sand fleas are not bright enough to figure that out. They would rather run around in their dirty pajamas with a diaper on their heads like they are Ali Baba and the forty thieves. It is quite pathetic to see a bunch of people with such a mob mentality and so ready to turn to violence as soon as someone breaks wind in the direction of Mecca.

When the war first started I tried to give the benefit of the doubt. I tried to believe that this was a group of radicals who did not represent true Islam. Unfortunately, no one in the Islamic community stepped up to show this as true. CAIR gives token condemnations when all the while it supports terrorists. Radical clerics preach violence against Americans in mosques located in America. Muslim leaders such as the jackass running Iran tell us we must convert and send letters to our president advising him to do so. And most importantly, no one in the Islamic community has stepped up to condemn the terrorism and call for an end to the violence.

Now there is news that the terrorists have warned Muslims to leave the US, especially the areas of New York and DC. They have made threats in the past and it is likely that this is just another but with Ramadan coming up and the radical Muzzies all worked up over the Pope (whose words the Muslims blame on the US and Israel) it is not hard to imagine they will try to attack us with some type of WMD. They wanted a clash of cultures and they are going to get it.

If they attack us it will likely be open season on any Muslim left in this country and if the US does not nuke all of Islam out of existence then we need to take over and do it ourselves. I , as most of us are, am tired of capitulating to a bunch of people who worship a child molester. I am tired of us worrying about how many of them we kill or if a few innocent ones (if there is such a thing) got in the way while they run around killing innocent people all the time. They killed 2996 people who were not involved in any kind of war and were not combatants. They are making plans to kill more innocent people. If they do we need to say screw all of them and fight the war on their terms by eliminating every last one of them. This also goes for any American who sympathizes with them or makes excuses for them. It will be open season on those types as well.

Then, and only then will we finally have peace. First we rid the world of the Islamic radical scum and then we live in peace.

'Islamic Extremist Calls For Pope's Death' from Stop the ACLU

Courtesy of Jay at Stop the ACLU: War On Terror, News

Apologies are not enough for to appease the hearts of Islamic extremists. Apparantly nothing is. Burning down churches wasn’t enough. Martyring a nun by shooting her in the back was not enough. No, for some the bloodlust can not be quenched without making the Pope into a martyr as well.

A notorious Muslim extremist told a demonstration in London yesterday that the Pope should face execution.

Anjem Choudary said those who insulted Islam would be “subject to capital punishment”.

His remarks came during a protest outside Westminster Cathedral on a day that worldwide anger among Muslim hardliners towards Pope Benedict XVI appeared to deepen.

The irony of the reaction by the Islamic extremist mobs needs not be ignored. I’m not sure whether or not the Pope deliberately through down the guantlet but his words did turn out to be prophetic and the truth. I really don’t see any reason why the pope should apologize and retreat. The only thing that should be regretted is that the central theme of his speech, that of reason and peaceful dialogue, was completely and willfully ignored. In the Islamic extremist animal mind, jihad was the “reasonable” answer.

An Iraqi militant group led by al Qaeda vowed a war against the “worshippers of the cross” in response to a recent speech by Pope Benedict on Islam that sparked anger across the Muslim world.

“We tell the worshipper of the cross (the Pope) that you and the West will be defeated, as is the case in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya,” said an Internet statement by the Mujahideen Shura Council, an umbrella group led by Iraq’s branch of al Qaeda.

“We shall break the cross and spill the wine. … God will (help) Muslims to conquer Rome. … God enable us to slit their throats, and make their money and descendants the bounty of the mujahideen,” said the statement.

Hmmm. Doesn’t seem like they are interested in dialouge. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one that Noticed the irony in all of this.

THE Archbishop of Sydney has drawn a link between Islamists and violence, a strident attempt to defend the Pope just as the pontiff tries to hose down Muslim anger around the world.

Cardinal George Pell says “the violent reactions in many parts of the Islamic world” to a speech by Pope Benedict justified one of the main fears expressed by the world’s Catholic leader.

“They showed the link for many Islamists between religion and violence, their refusal to respond to criticism with rational arguments, but only with demonstrations, threats and actual violence,” Cardinal Pell said in a statement yesterday.

Amen.

NewsMax.Com: Bush’s CIA Critic Claim Exposed as Untrue

Email dispatch from NewsMax.Com that I received this morning and wanted to pass on to the readership of The Bosun Locker.

BOSUN's DISCLAIMER: The different points of views of Kessler or NewsMax and its contributors are not supported nor do they reflect the views and beliefs of Bosun's Sail Locker or any of its affiliates.

Bush's CIA Critic Claim Exposed as Untrue

By Ronald Kessler, Chief Washington Correspondence, NewsMax.Com

WASHINGTON — In a "60 Minutes" interview on April 23, Tyler Drumheller, a former chief of the CIA's Europe division, made a se\nsational charge.

He claimed that President Bush and his White House ignored intelligence before the invasion of Iraq indicating that Saddam Hussein had no had weapons of mass destruction.

On the CBS-TV show, and in subsequent media interviews that appeared throughout the world, Drumheller said that the White House was excited about the fact that the CIA was getting information straight from Naji Sabri, the then Iraqi foreign minister. But when the White House found out this source was reliably saying that Saddam had no WMD, Bush and his White House weren't interested.

"He [Sabri] told us that they had no active weapons of mass destruction program," Drumheller told correspondent Ed Bradley in a segment called "A Spy Speaks Out."

"So in the fall of 2002, before going to war, we had it on good authority from a source within Saddam's inner circle that he didn't have an active program for weapons of mass destruction?" Bradley asked.

"Yes," Drumheller said, proclaiming himself outraged.

According to Drumheller, Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice brushed aside the CIA report on what Sabri had to say because "the policy was set. The war in Iraq was coming, and they were looking for intelligence to fit into the policy, to justify the policy."

Drumheller saw "how the Bush administration time and time again welcomed intelligence that fit the president's determination to go to war and turned a blind eye to intelligence that did not," Ed Bradley said in the introduction to the "60 Minutes" piece.

Now it appears Drumheller's claim was untrue, according to the findings of a Senate Select Committee on Intelligence investigation. Rather than undercutting the Bush administration's rationale for invading Iraq, Sabri's account shows how well-founded the intelligence on Saddam's weapons program appeared to be. (Bosun's comment: The 151 page senate report, Postar Findings about Iraq's WMD Program dated September 8th is linked here)

Ironically, just as Drumheller claimed that Bush ignored the truth about Iraq, the media have ignored the documentation in the Senate report demolishing Drumheller's claim.

An addenda to the Senate report on postwar findings about Iraq's WMD program says all the operational documents relating to Sabri indicate he told the CIA just the opposite of what Drumheller claimed. The Senate report refers to Sabri as a source with direct access to Saddam Hussein and his inner circle but does not name him.

"Both the operations cable and the intelligence report prepared for high-level policy-makers [based on interrogation of the source] said that while Saddam Hussein did not have a nuclear weapon, ‘he was aggressively and covertly developing such a weapon,'" the Senate report said.

(Bosun's comment: Read the text yourself . It is found on pages 143 and 144 of the senate report. Why mainstream media has failed to report this apparent misinformation is beyond me?)

The documents said "Iraq was producing and stockpiling chemical weapons," according to the addendum, signed by Sens. Pat Roberts, R–Kan., Orrin G. Hatch, R–Utah, and Saxby Chambliss, R–Ga. Iraq's weapon of last resort was mobile launched chemical weapons, which would be fired at enemy forces and Israel, the CIA documents said.

Moreover, there is "not a single document relating to this case which indicates that the source said Iraq had no WMD programs," the addenda said. "On the contrary, all of the information about this case so far indicates that the information from this source was that Iraq did have WMD programs."

What the source said was consistent with the CIA's October 2002 National Intelligence Estimate, the report said. The report added: "The committee is still exploring why the former chief/EUR's public remarks differ so markedly from the documentation."

At least 134 stories and TV shows have referred to Drumheller's claims and his criticism of the CIA and Bush administration in general. One of the stories ran as the second lead of the June 25, 2006 Washington Post.

"Warnings on WMD ‘Fabricator' Were Ignored, Ex-CIA Aide Says," the headline over the Post story said. According to the story, Drumheller was dumbfounded when he saw a classified version of the speech Secretary of State Colin Powell was about to give to the United Nations citing Iraq's biological weapons factories on wheels.

Drumheller claimed he had warned George Tenet, the director of Central Intelligence, in a phone call, and John McLaughlin, the deputy director, in a personal meeting that the source for that claim, code-named "Curveball," was a fabricator.

Not until the 32nd paragraph of the Post story did the reader learn that both Tenet and McLaughlin said they had no recollection of warnings Drumheller allegedly gave them. Both men said they would have taken immediate action if he had.

While two former CIA officials said they recalled Drumheller telling them at the time about warnings he allegedly gave McLaughlin, no meeting with Drumheller appeared on McLaughlin's official calendar, according to the report of the Commission on Intelligence Capabilities of the U.S. Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction, known as the Silverman-Robb commission.

Carroll & Graf is publishing Drumheller's book, "On the Brink: How the White House Has Compromised American Intelligence," written with Elaine Monaghan, on Sept. 28, according to the Amazon listing. The publisher's Web site lists the publication date as this winter.

Neither Drumheller nor a Carroll & Graf spokesperson responded to messages seeking comment.

So far, no media outlet has run the Senate committee's addendum demolishing Drumheller's claim that Bush and his White House did not want to hear the truth about whether Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

"Ya know...maybe the Americans weren't so bad after all...."

Recently, control of Abu Ghraib was returned back over to Iraqi authorities.

In part, due to security risks; but also in large part to incidents that swayed public world opinion against us, such as the following:
footage of naked prisoners made to masturbate in front of the camera. There were also "many" pictures of two prison guards - Private Lynddie England and her lover Cpl Charles Graner, who are both currently serving prison sentences - having sexual intercourse.-Uk Telegraph, Feb 16, 2006
The actions of a handful of American soldiers did enormous damage to the war effort.
The impact of those photographs, which were leaked to a US TV network by an American soldier, was seismic.

The affair became one of the defining points of the American occupation.

Eight soldiers, including Lynndie England, the 32-year-old former fast-food worker who was pictured holding the other end of the dog leash, were convicted for their involvement in the scandal, which undermined the moral authority of the Iraq invasion. The revelations dealt the operation a blow from which it is arguably yet to recover.

Many Iraqis who previously defended the US-led invasion turned against it.
- Telegraph.co.UK March 10, 2006

In the same article, it says that news that the American-run prison facility would be handed over to the Iraqis was "greeted with joy in Iraq". And now?

Tortured screams ring out as Iraqis take over Abu Ghraib
By Ali Saber in Baghdad and Gethin Chamberlain
(Filed: September 10, 2006)

Staff at the jail say the Iraqi authorities have moved dozens of terrorist suspects into Abu Ghraib from the controversial Interior Ministry detention centre in Jadriyah, where United States troops last year discovered 169 prisoners who had been tortured and starved.

An independent witness who went into Abu Ghraib this week told The Sunday Telegraph that screams were coming from the cell blocks housing the terrorist suspects. Prisoners released from the jail this week spoke of routine torture of terrorism suspects and on Wednesday, 27 prisoners were hanged in the first mass execution since the overthrow of Saddam Hussein's regime.

Conditions in the rest of the jail were grim, with an overwhelming stench of excrement, prisoners crammed into cells for all but 20 minutes a day, food rations cut to just rice and water and no air conditioning.

Some of the small number of prisoners who remained in the jail after the Americans left said they had pleaded to go with their departing captors, rather than be left in the hands of Iraqi guards.

"The Americans were better than the Iraqis. They treated us better," said Khalid Alaani, who was held on suspicion of involvement in Sunni terrorism.

Abu Ghraib became synonymous with abuse after shocking pictures were published in 2004 showing prisoners being tortured and humiliated, galvanising opposition to the US presence in Iraq.
This reminds me of the disproportionate obsessing over criticizing and highlighting every negative that America has played a role in....from slavery of black Africans to genocide of Native-Americans; as if the rest of the world have clean hands in either of those two categories. I suppose Americans will also now be held responsible and be blamed by "world opinion", for the torture of Iraqi prisoners, including violent insurgents and terrorists, at the hands of Iraqis.

Oh, yeah and: "It's all Bush's fault."

Hat tip: Jen for emailing me the story.

Darfur: Will we allow the genocide to continue?

September 9, 2006, 30 brave souls of the 300-500 who demonstrated outside of the White House were arrested. One of them was Jay, the person I interviewed. They were seeking something. What were they seeking? They were seeking 24,000 peacekeepers with a Chapter 7 mandate.

The people of Darfur who will surely die if the AU, which is scheduled to leave this month, if no true peacekeepers in larger numbers with a Chapter 7 mandate comes to their aid. [Read the whole article.]

Man Tries To Board Plane With hidden knife

A man with a one way ticket to Yemen tried to board a plane with a knife carefully hidden in a book. The book had been carved out and the knife hidden inside. The man, Mohammed Ghanem (imagine that, a Muslim name) is being held on half a million dollar bond and could get 10 years in jail.

I know that it is OK for Muslims to lie in order to benefit Islam but how stupid does this terrorist in training think we are? Does he expect us to believe that he does know how a knife got in a hollowed out book?

This guy was trying to pull one over and we do not know exactly what it was but ten years in jail should give him some time to think about what he was trying to do.

Never doubt the tenacity of a woman

Another inspirational form of art from my brother:
One day a man decided that he was sick and tired of going home every payday and giving his check to his wife. So the next payday he cashed his check and went out partying all weekend. When he finally decided to come home, there was his wife waiting for him on the front porch. As soon as she sees him, she starts in ....Where have you been, why haven't you called, where is your paycheck?

She stops, noticing that he appears not to be listening at all. She then grabs his face and states very harshly "How would you like it if you didn't see me for a couple days?"

The man thinks a little and he says with a half smirk, "I think that I would like that a lot!"

A day goes by and he doesn't see her...2 days go by and he still hadn't seen her...3 days go by and the swelling had gone down just enough that he could see her through the corner of his left eye.

Funny In Farsi

This is a wonderful novel written about a young lady who came to America right before the takeover of her country by the Revolutionary people in Iran. It is all the mystery and passion of a novel which is leaves one with a sense of longing and gratitude.

For all of my Persian readers, here's to you. I have no idea what it says, but I do know it is about this book, Funny in Farsi.

Howard Dean On Rewriting History

I wrote earlier about the movie The Path to 9/11. This movie shows how the Clinton administration was negligent in its pursuit and capture of Osama bin Laden. Bill Clinton is furious and the rest o the donks are falling in line with their disgust at these "lies." Howard Dean had a lot to say n an email from the DNC. In it he calls this movie a Republican attempt at rewriting history. This is coming from a man who is defending a president that has constantly tried to rewrite history to give him a more favorable place in history. Bill and Hillary have both written books that are full of lies n an attempt to rewrite history. Bill Clinton has a library in Little Rock. If he is so concerned with the truth why is there no mention of the Lewinsky scandal that rocked his presidency and caused his impeachment?

Howard accuses the republicans of rewriting history and ignoring facts as outlined in the 9/11 Commission Report. Dean conveniently ignores the fact that some of Clinton's cronies were on that panel to protect Clinton's failed presidency. Dean tells us:

Richard Clarke -- the counterterrorism czar for the Clinton administration, now himself a consultant to ABC News -- describes a key scene in "The Path to 9/11" as "180 degrees from what happened." In the scene, a CIA field agent places a phone call to get the go ahead to kill Osama Bin Laden, then in his sights, only to have a senior Clinton administration official refuse and hang up the phone. Sandy Berger, President Clinton's National Security Advisor, called the same scene "a total fabrication. It did not happen." And Roger Cressey, a top Bush and Clinton counterterrorism official, said it was "something straight out of Disney and fantasyland. It's factually wrong. And that's shameful."

LTC Buzz Patterson wrote about incidents where Clinton failed to take down bin Laden in his book Dereliction of Duty. He describes a number of times where Clinton refused to give the go on taking out bin Laden. Patterson was there and witnessed these events but Dean would have us take the word of Sandy Berger, the man who was caught stealing classified documents and placing other documents back into the National Archives. This is the man Dean wants you to believe while ignoring people like LTC Patterson, a man who served this country honorably.

The Democrats are up in arms because they are being called on the carpet for their lack of concern for national security. They are being shown as the people who nurtured the environment that allowed 9/11 to happen and they do not like it. So, like they always do, they have come out accusing Republicans of being the ones who lied. They are deliberately lying to cover up their failures on the national security front. Dean has even invoked the name of Rush Limbaugh because he is friends with the scriptwriter Cyrus Nowrasteh. This, I suppose, is designed to discredit the man. You see, to Dean, Nowrasteh can not be truthful because he is a friend of Limbaugh and therefore he must be lying. I find it rather humorous that Dean never said a negative word about Michael Moore and his film full of lies, Fahrenheit 9/11. I suppose that since Moore was lying about President Bush, he was OK in Dean's book.

Dean and the donks are not happy that this movie is coming out around election time because they know it might have an effect on the electorate. The truth is, they never minded when any item came out just prior to the 2004 election so long as it was against the president. They were happy when CBS aired fake documents. They were happy when newspapers were bringing up 18 month old weapons stories as if they were new. Dean never criticized these lies because they were designed to hurt Bush. As soon as a movie comes out that tells the truth, a truth the Dog has been preaching for ears, Dean and the donks get upset and start calling it a pack of lies.

If the movie has the Democrats this upset, it must be true and it must hit close to home. It shows that they are weak on national security and that they are more interested in winning than the truth. Everyone needs to watch this movie and see what really happened while Clinton was busy with Monica. I also recommend that you get LTC Buzz Patterson's book and read what a man who was there each and every day had to say about this.

Do not let the Democrats rewrite history, again...

Today's News

CNN seems to believe that just because diplomats go to talk with some other diplomats over in China, North Korea's problem will magically disappear. Oh well. Maybe they will learn when they fall apart...again.

Now for some news across the pond in Austria. Do you remember the brave young lady that escaped her kidnapper after being abused and locked up for eight and a half years? Well, she gave her first interview today.

She describes what it was like to be locked up in a dungeon cell. The whole ordeal horrific, but she is now free. Free in body, but the mind will have to take quite a bit of time to adjust. This is one brave child, and I urge to continue to pray for her.

Speaking of prayers, I urge you to continue to pray for Fr. Saad Syrop Hanna. He is a Catholic Priest who was kidnapped in Iraq August 15, 2006. They are demanding a ransom, but I do not know the situation as of today. Please sign this petition for his safe release.

For further information, please read Chaldeans Thoughts. Do you remember Fayrouz? This is her other site. Please stop by and give her your support. Thank you.

They Keep the Homefront Safer...

I have a round up of several very good articles that you won't hear about from the press.

The first article is about training on the job. You wouldn't know...oh, I'll let you find out. Wow. It gripped me.

The second one is pleasing to me. After years, decades of Saddam, the infrastructure of Iraq is in awful shape. This article brings good news about the completion of something. What? You'll have to read it! :)

Next we have one of those stories that is familiar to almost all of us. Have you ever met someone halfway around the world only to find out they live in the same area you do? Meet these four gentlemen.

This is an article about Iraqi Guard and how they are protecting their own homefront. It's is very worthy article.

This is the one that is the best, in my humble opinion. This is one of things I would prefer to see more prominently on the TV screen. Our men have deserved these, and we should know why. What happened? Who are you? When did this happen? Did you save any lives? Nothing from press leaves such a deep whole. It just is not fair.

Well, I hope this is enough to keep you busy for a while. I had such a good time putting it together for you. Thank you. God bless America and our Military!

One Nation Under AllahtofBullcrap!

A Washington Post article a week ago suggests that American Muslims are not as assimilated into mainstream American culture as we would think, or would like to think.

By Geneive Abdo
Sunday, August 27, 2006; Page B03

If only the Muslims in Europe -- with their hearts focused on the Islamic world and their carry-on liquids poised for destruction in the West -- could behave like the well-educated, secular and Americanizing Muslims in the United States, no one would have to worry.

So runs the comforting media narrative that has developed around the approximately 6 million Muslims in the United States, who are often portrayed as well-assimilated and willing to leave their religion and culture behind in pursuit of American values and lifestyle. But over the past two years, I have traveled the country, visiting mosques, interviewing Muslim leaders and speaking to Muslim youths in universities and Islamic centers from New York to Michigan to California -- and I have encountered a different truth. I found few signs of London-style radicalism among Muslims in the United States. At the same time, the real story of American Muslims is one of accelerating alienation from the mainstream of U.S. life, with Muslims in this country choosing their Islamic identity over their American one.

A new generation of American Muslims -- living in the shadow of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks -- is becoming more religious. They are more likely to take comfort in their own communities, and less likely to embrace the nation's fabled melting pot of shared values and common culture.
That's a shame. One would think that anyone coming to a country to adopt themselves to it, would in turn, adapt to it. A big problem for European nations has been their inability to assimilate Muslims into becoming French citizens, British citizens, etc., loyal to their adoptive countries. Placing loyalty to religion over loyalty to country is a problem when that particular religion is open to such interpretation as to endorse homicide bombings and the murder of nonbelievers.
Part of this is linked to the resurgence of Islam over the past several decades, a growth as visible in Western Europe and the United States as it is in Egypt and Morocco. But the Sept. 11 attacks also had the dual effect of making American Muslims feel isolated in their adopted country, while pushing them to rediscover their faith.
From schools to language to religion, American Muslims are becoming a people apart. Young, first-generation American Muslim women -- whose parents were born in Egypt, Pakistan and other Islamic countries -- are wearing head scarves even if their mothers had left them behind; increasing numbers of young Muslims are attending Islamic schools and lectures; Muslim student associations in high schools and at colleges are proliferating; and the role of the mosque has evolved from strictly a place of worship to a center for socializing and for learning Arabic and Urdu as well as the Koran.

The men and women I spoke to -- all mosque-goers, most born in the United States to immigrants -- include students, activists, imams and everyday working Muslims. Almost without exception, they recall feeling under siege after Sept. 11, with FBI agents raiding their mosques and homes, neighbors eyeing them suspiciously and television programs portraying Muslims as the new enemies of the West.
Ok, I am not Muslim, so maybe I can't relate. But being a hyphenated-American myself, I know the stinging barbs of racism. And personally, I do not see Muslims in this country being persecuted. You can dig up an incident here or there, yes; but those, I would say, are the exceptions to the rule. Does someone have statistics that show that I am wrong on this?

The President has repeatedly made it clear that this is not a war against peaceful Islamists. He has gone out of his way to make that point (sometimes to the consternation of those of us more critical of Islam and who are not required to nerfify our slings and arrows). When he uses the term "Islamic-fascists", why on earth is that an insult to Islamists who do not fit the definition? Our hypersensitivity on the topic of race drives me absolutely nuts!
Such feelings led them, they say, to adopt Islamic symbols -- the hijab , or head covering, for women and the kufi , or cap, for men -- as a defense mechanism. Many, such as Rehan, whom I met at a madrassa (religious school) in California with her husband, Ramy, also felt compelled to deepen their faith.

"After I covered, I changed," Rehan told me. "I felt I wanted to give people a good impression of Islam. I wanted people to know how happy I am to be Muslim." But not everyone understood, she said, recalling an incident in a supermarket in 2003: "The man next to me in the vegetable section said, 'You'd be much more beautiful without that thing on your head. It's demeaning to women.' " But to her the head scarf symbolized piety, not oppression.
Personally, I think it was classless and inappropriate for a stranger to presume as much, and say that to this woman. A head scarf is only oppressive if it is forced upon the wearer.

But what I don't understand is why this need to "rebel" and alienate oneself further from mainstream America? Why feel like YOU are under attack, because you share "a certain thing" in common with a group of crazed killers bent upon the destruction of you and I? After all, they are as much responsible for the mass killing of Muslims as any non-Muslim nation has been. What if I were Korean. Should I feel like my identity were under assault, because my government is at odds with Kim Jong Il and North Korea? Was it appropriate (not whether it violated his Constitutional Rights or not- it probably has) for Raed Jarrar to wear a "We will not be silent" t-shirt in Arabic and English (so those who supposedly hate "his kind" could understand his "eff-u" message of defiance) aboard a plane, say, right on the heals of a foiled plot by Korean extremists to hijack and kill passengers aboard planes? I suppose so, if there was any proof that my government and my fellow Americans were treating me like the enemy. But that is not the case we have here, as far as I can see it. What people like Jarrar end up doing, is just reinforcing the perceived alienation of Muslims in this country, by segregating themselves off from said country. They bring about the very thing which they fear and are fighting so hard against.

Do you want to know how to dispell the negative image Islam is currently experiencing? By not being so hypersensitive and hyper-defensive; by not identifying with the those terrorizing the world in the name of your religion. That inadvertently happens when you feel the need to rationalize their actions and think that you yourself are under assault when you are not. Identify with those of us who are fighting the jihadists, and you will give more credibility to the "Islam is a religion of peace" message of yours. Do what Irshad Manji and Nonie Darwish are doing. They give a better name and do greater service to Islam than the Raed Jarrars of the Islamic community do.
A group of young college-educated women at the Dix mosque in Dearborn, Mich., described the challenges many Muslims face as they carve out their identity in the United States. I spoke with them in the winter of 2004, after they had been to the mosque one Sunday for a halaqa (a study circle) focused on integrating faith and daily life. They were in their twenties: Hayat, a psychologist; Ismahan, a computer scientist; and Fatma, a third-grade teacher.

Hayat said veiling was easier for her than it had been for her sister, 10 years her senior, because Hayat had more Muslim peers when she reached high school and felt far less pressure to conform to American ways.
This is an interesting paradox to me. One of the things that we, as Americans, value highly is the freedom of individual expression and non-conformity. We sort of celebrate those who "stick out from the crowd", unlike, say, the Japanese, who believe that a nail that sticks out needs to be hammered back into place. But what happens when the very thing you are embracing, in its strict fundamental tenets, is incompatible with "the American way"?
When she went on to the University of Michigan, she was surrounded for the first time by young Muslims who dared to show pride in their religion in a non-Muslim setting.

Ismahan recalled similar experiences. In elementary school, she had tried to fit in. As an adult, though, "I know I don't have to fit in," she said. "I don't think Muslims have to assimilate. We are not treated like Americans. At work, I get up from my desk and go to pray. I thought I would face opposition from my boss. Even before I realized he didn't mind, I thought, 'I have a right to be a Muslim, and I don't have to assimilate.' "
She complains "we are not treated like Americans" and says she has a right not to assimilate? It's a strange fix, because that very attitude of defiance is rather American; and yet, it's like shooting oneself in the foot, to reject assimilating into the very culture that gives you the freedom to have that defiant freedom. Pride in ones cultural roots and heritage is one thing; segregating yourself off from mainstream America and carrying a chip on your shoulder is to disassociate yourself from being integrated and accepted as American. We all, to one degree or another, take pride in where we or our forefathers came from; but we don't walk around saying, "I'm an Italian Catholic first, American second", "I have German pride; not American pride". If we all did that, we would not be "One nation" but many nations; we'd be a bunch of mixed up people tossed around like ingredients in a salad bowl, distinguishing the differences between us, rather than embracing a commonality. We'd be the United Nations of America; and that's a very scary thought. Nations within a nation, identifying only with those who share our skin color or religious beliefs.
Fatma described the mosque as central to her future: "What made me sane during years of public high school," she said, "was coming to the halaqa every Sunday." Fatma was also quick to distinguish herself from other young Muslim women who embrace American mores. "Some Muslims do anything to fit in. They drink. They date. My biggest fear is that I might assimilate to the American lifestyle so much that my modesty goes out the window."
So you fear having your values tested, and being too weak-will not to give in to your wants and desires? This isn't unique to Muslims. Anyone of strong religious character will feel the same; and those immigrants from more conservative cultures than ours, also feel the challenge. Quite simply put, we Americans put up with our more liberally-minded citizens....even when they're being morally decadent idiots.
Imam Zaid Shakir -- who teaches at San Francisco's Zaytuna Institute, America's only true madrassa -- refers to such young Muslims as the "rejectionist generation." They are rejectionist, he says, because they turn their backs not only on absolutist religious interpretations, but also on America's secular ways. Many of these young American Muslims look to Shakir (and to celebrated Zaytuna founder Hamza Yusuf) for guidance on how to live pious lives in the United States.

I spent several days at one of the institute's "mobile madrassas," this one in San Jose, and watched hundreds of young Muslim professionals sit on cushioned folding chairs and listen intently as Yusuf delivered his lecture. "Everywhere I go, I see Muslims," he told them. "Go to the gas station and the airport. Muslims are present in the United States, and that was not true 20 years ago. There are more Muslims living outside the Dar al-Islam [Islamic countries, or literally the House of Islam] than ever. So we have to be strategic in our thinking, because people who are our enemies are strategic in their thinking."

The "enemies" Yusuf referred to that day were not non-Muslims, but rather those who use Islam as a rationale for violence. For the students at this madrassa and for many Muslims I interviewed, their strategy focuses on public displays of their faith.
It sounds like the same kind of approach as the one used by Raed Jarrar, daring people to call him "unpatriotic". A show of "Muslim pride". Again, the approach taken by those like Irshad Manji will do more for establishing Islam's image in a positive light, than taking on an air of defiance and naming your football team, the "Mujahadeens" or "Jihadists".
Being ambassadors of Islam is daring behavior when you consider that American Muslims live in a country where so many people are ignorant of -- if not hostile to -- their faith.
Being a good "ambassador of Islam" should entail one to go after the radicals and militants who are killing in the name of your religion; not go on the attack toward those who are fighting the Islamic terrorists and jihadist thugs.
In a Gallup poll this year, when U.S. respondents were asked what they admire about the Muslim world, the most common response was "nothing" (33 percent); the second most common was "I don't know" (22 percent).
Despite contemporary public opinion -- or perhaps because of it -- Muslim Americans consider Islam their defining characteristic, beyond any national identity. In this way, their experience in the United States resembles that of their co-religionists in Europe, where mosques are also growing, Islamic schools are being built, and practicing the faith is the center of life, particularly for the young generation.
And seeing how you are given the freedom to do all this, unopposed, how exactly are you feeling persecuted and alienated? You are alienating yourselves! That's the problem.
In Europe and the United States, young Muslims are unifying around popular imams they believe understand the challenges they face in Western societies; these leaders include Yusuf in the United States and Amer Khaled, an Egyptian-born imam who lives in Britain. Thousands of young Muslims attend their lectures.
In my years of interviews, I found few indications of homegrown militancy among American Muslims. Indeed, thus far, they have proved they can compete economically with other Americans. Although the unemployment rate for Muslims in Britain is far higher than for most other groups, the average annual income of a Muslim household surpasses that of average American households. Yet, outside the workplace, Muslims retreat into the comfort zone of their mosques and Islamic schools.

It is too soon to say where the growing alienation of American Muslims will lead, but it seems clear that the factors contributing to it will endure. U.S. foreign policy persists in dividing Muslim and Western societies, making it harder still for Americans to realize that there is a difference between their Muslim neighbor and the plotter in London or the kidnapper in Baghdad.
I disagree that it is U.S. foreign policy that persists in the division. The division is in the misperception that the U.S. has done anything against Muslims, on the grounds that they are Muslims.

It is the political correctness disease and the multicultural idiocy that has robbed us of our common sense. It has poisoned the minds of immigrants into the false notion that the way to be a good American is to preserve your cultural and religious tenets, 100% with zero attempts at integration and adaptation to the core values and customs of the western country to which you are now calling "home". Unfortunately, it's those very same western values and customs of ours that enables this "non-assimilation" to be tolerated. Instead of a melting pot, the multiculturalists have confused the welcoming concept of America, and have instead been tossing and stirring a salad bowl approach, where all cultures are given equal status; and segregation and the preservation of one's foreign identity is encouraged as being "American". It is the notion that all cultures are equal. It is the same kind of mentality that will see the creation of multi-language voting ballots not as a practicality and a courtesy, but as a given right and a necessity. That America accomodate immigrants, and not the other way around. That our Judeo-Christian roots that founded this modern nation, be minimized, giving equal footing and equal treatment to the cultural values and beliefs of other nations....some of which are the very enablers for providing fertile grounds for genocidal regimes to gain a stranglehold and for economic quagmires to take root and flourish.

But what really caught my attention was when I clicked on a link on my sitemeter that showed all these liberal blogs in hysterics over it. Then I knew this was a gem worth checking into.-The Chatterbox Chronicles

When anything gets under the skin of the libs, that's a good enough endorsement for me to support it. I first heard about this over at Hugh Hewitt. Despite the pressure on ABC by the pro-Clinton Left, Hewitt doubts there will be any last minute editing changes because there have been a sufficient number of reviewers who have already seen it; and to make changes now under political pressure by the liberal Left, would have a negative backlash.

Fellow Citizens Whom I Consider Human Excrement

Curt has a video up that has got to be seen to be believed, as well as some excremental garbage coming from the mouths of the DUmmies on the upcoming 9/11 anniversary. I don't normally call people on the Left whom I disagree with unpatriotic, and I'm very careful about making that charge. But I have no problem calling these idiots unpatriotic; and I would find it baffling if they disagreed and waxed indignant over the charge. If they have no shame in much of the filth they espouse to believe in, then they are what they are: unpatriotic and vile waste of citizenship status.

Pentagon: Missile interceptor test successful

Boy, you can really count on these guys, eh? The most important parts of this artice are spread out. Here is how I would have written it:
Washington Rosemary - In a successful Missile Defense exercise using live targets in the Pacific Rim Friday, a target missile was launched from Kodiak, Alaska. This is the first time the ground-based interceptor missile was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in central California. Previous launches have been from the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

RWB Contest for Writers of Blogs

It is that time again when Reporters Without Borders (RWB) has it's annual search across the world to find blogs that defend free speech. This is a very good group of writers, columnists, authors, etc, that do their best to make sure that censure does not occur in your country.

Here is an e-mail announcing their competition:
Like last year, Reporters Without Borders is joining in the Best of the Blogs (BOBS) competition being organised by the German public broadcaster Deutsche Welle. We are asking Internet users to propose blogs (in any language) that defend press freedom. The "Reporters Without Borders" prize last year went to Egyptian Manal Alaa's Bit Bucket (www.manalaa.net/). Awards also went to the blog of Chinese citizen Wang Yi (shut down by the authorities) and the blog of Tunisian Mokhtar Yahyaoui (temporarily closed).

To propose a blog, write to [internet at rsf.org] by 30 September with a brief description of the blog you like.

For more information about the competition, go to: www.thebobs.de/.
Personally, I believe this is a worthy group of people. They may lean a little to the left, but what good is it if everyone wrote to the right? We need all writers, all voices, all opinions, and certainly we need freedom of the press. Along with freedom comes certain responsibilities. As long as these are honored, readers can depend on the credibility of the author.

They have also made it possible for people to write anonymously. These sites may be in countries such as China, Iran, etc. that censure their people and the news. This is one of the reasons why it is with great pleasure we bring you this news. If you know of anyone who writes about keeping the press free, please pass their blog along to the information above. Thank you, and have a censure free day. :)
