Voter ID Legislation

It's about time.
Today, the House of Representatives passed HR 4844, the Federal Election Integrity Act of 2006. This is an excellent piece of legislation that can accomplish for all fifty states everything we've been trying to do in California and more.
This Act calls for everyone who votes to have a picture ID. If you need a picture ID to use your credit card, buy cigarrettes, buy liquer, get your food stamps and welfare check, get on a plane, then it should be reasonable that you would be able to use your picture ID to prove you are who say you are when you go to vote!

The NY Times had the most outlandish editorial the other day on this.
