- "Oppression, corruption and hypocrisy have led us to suffocation," the party said in a statement. It highlighted the need for "a new social governance that is based on the rule of people by the people and which relies on the transition of power and the limitation of terms."
- The new party's logo, which is the number 77 in Arabic, represents the "77-percent silent majority that did not vote as a form of protest and disapproval of the present alternatives and the integrity of the elections," the statement said.

Great catch Rosemary. We need to stay aware of all aspects of the Middle East.
From the outside, Mubarak looked like a good choice: rational, more or less pro-west, supportive of the Israel - Egypt peace agreements, and progressive. Harb paints of possible corruption and the 77% silent majority.

The things I could tell you about Mubarak! He is not the creature you think. You know how they say one thing in English and another in Arabic? That's Mubarak.
He arrests his opponents before the elections, so there is no else to vote for! He arrests bloggers. He has a very heavy hand against the Egyptians. And he is selling arms to Hamas and to anyone who wants them. He hates Israel.
He is anything but moderate. Try reading Big Pharaoh. He's a pretty good guy in Egypt. :)
Thanks of the information.
