American Flags Banned in American Schools
By Rick Roberts
April 4th, 2006
SCHOOL OFFICIALS IN OCEANSIDE ARE BANNING STUDENTS FROM BRINGING SIGNS, FLAGS, AND PLACARDS THAT EXPRESS THEIR POSITION ON THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION DEBATE…INCLUDING AMERICAN FLAGS!
Can banning the American flag stop potential violence on school campuses?
Oceanside schools Superintendent Ken Noonan hopes so. He said “I have a concern when flags are used as a means of emotionally attacking somebody. The flag is not a weapon.”
This all comes in light of the huge Hispanic walkouts last week to support illegal immigration.
Schools all over Colorado, Texas, California and Arizona are banning American and Mexican flags.
And in Colorado they are taking it a step further.
A new dress code bans wearing camouflage, clothing that makes political statements, banners,
flags and bandanas.
High School Principal Tom Stumpf says some American flags were used in a “vilifying fashion” by being waved in the faces of Hispanic students. ( Yeah…I’m sure the Hispanic students were all little angles.)
Stumpf calls it “misguided patriotism.”
Here’s what I think is misguided. American students didn’t bring this on.
American students are being punished for the idiocy of those breaking all the rules and expecting us to respect their opinion.
What a joke!
I’m all for the schools cracking down, but this is just wrong. American flags are not the problem.
Heck! Mexican flags are not the problem.
The problem is school administrators who do not have a handle on the CHILDREN!
They are letting the kids run the joint and make the rules, and that’s how they got in this jackpot.
Here’s what a majority of listeners into The Rick Roberts Show thought this morning.

Thanks for the heads up Bos'un. I just checked out the link to Rick Roberts, now I am really PO'd. You have a little more of a reach (readers) than I do. Do you think there is someway that we bloggers can all get to gether and make sure that each of our sites have the American flag displayed on it as a show of support by bloggers?
Maybe even try to bring back the national display that we all had after 9/11. Where just about every front porch, car, and truck had either stickers of the flag or the actual flag flying from them. I see this as the first step of all the rights of the "free" being disgarded for the wanna be's.
