Moussaoui Evades Death, Receives Life in Prison

Jihad Watch weighed in with a sobering thought that may be overlooked by many of us:

Why is it a victory? Because, as I said below, he can spend his life recruiting for jihad. But, but, you will say, if he had been executed, he would have been a martyr. Not so! In fact, Paradise is promised only to those who "slay and are slain" for Allah (Qur'an 9:111), not to those who die an ignominious death at the hands of Infidel corrections officers. Qur'an 9.111 with three translations:

YUSUFALI: Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur'an: and who is more
faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.
PICKTHAL: Lo! Allah hath bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because the Garden will be theirs: they shall fight in the way of Allah and shall slay and be slain. We infidels have not even scratched the surface of the hows and whys these islamofacists think and act, and we have a lot to learn.

Did U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema do the right things in presiding over the case? Did she provide the jurors guidance and direction? The case will be dissected in coming days. According to FoxNews, Brinkema indicated during a closed hearing (without the jurors present) that she (Brinkema) did not believe Moussaoui knew advance details of the Sept. 11th plot.
