Global Warming's Fear

Yes, it is true. Global warming supporters are afraid to have an open debate about it's verocity and reality. These people will allow you to believe them, but do not question them. They know it all, and you know nothing. How could you? If you disagree with them, you are the problem. Not the facts you bring to the table, but you, personally!

In all the years of science I have under my belt, this simply IGNORES the scientic formula of evidential theory. Oh well, truth be damned.

Maybe you would like to hear from someone other than myself? I invite you to read "How Global Warming Research is Creating a Climate of Fear." This article was written January 24, 2005, by Hans von Storch and Nico Stehr who work for the Der Spiegel in Germany.
The idealists' weapon is organized fear of abrupt climate change, and they interpret any out-of-the-ordinary weather event as evidence of global warming caused by humans. PR consultants deliver the following advice to environmental groups: "You have to structure your information in such a way that it can always be corroborated, no matter what kind of weather we have." The realists, who claim that there is little evidence that meteorological extremes are caused by human activity, are fighting a losing battle. Their dry scientific facts don't stand a chance in a PR battle with the horrific scenarios painted in Technicolor by the climate idealists.
Not exactly your American born sceptics, eh? Townhall.com goes on to claim:
Start by challenging global warming hysteria next time you're at a LoDo cocktail party and see what happens.

Admittedly, I possess virtually no expertise in science. That puts me in exactly the same position as most dogmatic environmentalists who want to craft public policy around global warming fears.

The only inconvenient truth about global warming, contends Colorado State University's Bill Gray, is that a genuine debate has never actually taken place. Hundreds of scientists, many of them prominent in the field, agree.

Gray is perhaps the world's foremost hurricane expert. His Tropical Storm Forecast sets the standard. Yet, his criticism of the global warming "hoax" makes him an outcast.

"They've been brainwashing us for 20 years," Gray says. "Starting with the nuclear winter and now with the global warming. This scare will also run its course. In 15-20 years, we'll look back and see what a hoax this was."
Fair enough. I share the same lack of knowledge, even though I studied science. I have forgotten more than I learned. I just remember loving science, or at least I used to...

If you don't believe that global warming is more likely than cooling over the next few decades, then you can make money for a charity of your choice. Go to here:

http://www.longbets.org/196

The bettor there believes that global warming will happen. You bet against him and both of you give a tax-deductible donation to the Long Now Foundation. When the bet pays off, all the money goes to the charity of the winner's choice. His bet offer has been sitting there unanswered for over a year. This is your chance to put your money where your mouth is, double the amount of money you'd normally give to charity, and make sure HIS money goes to whatever cause YOU think is worthy. Check it out.

(By the way, I'm the person you'd bet against.)

Oh I see, Mr Longbets, if we don't take you up on it then we're hypocrites or something?

Boy aren't you clever. Let's just have an academic argument and leave it at that.

I saw we ignore this fool.

Now for my real comment.

I think that global warming is probably real, but that human activity only accounts for a small portion of it. Therefore treaties such as Kyoto are foolish at best, harmful at worst.

In order to have any significant effect we'd need 10 Kyotos. Forget about a high-mileage car and insulating your house, you can kiss all of your consumer electronics goodbye. And most of your winter heating. And summer AC. And any car larger than a Mini Cooper.

Rosemary,

Seems like some do not like the post. Oh well. The jury is still out on global warming. Is it a natural occurrence?

Rosemary Welch said...

That is what Mr. Gray argues. We did have an ice age (before man?), and it warmed again. What caused it?

Let me put it like this. If you breathe in pure oxygen, you will die. Can you live without oxygen?

Ah, the paradox! Take something like carbon dioxide, make it a bad thing, and voila! You have hysteria. May I remind everyone who has ever taken a science class what carbon dioxide is?

IT'T THE STUFF THAT PLANTS USE for photosynthesis! (The take it from the water in the ground CO2, transform it into food, exhale 02, keeping the C.) Sheesh.

Even stupid little me could figure that one out! LOL

Rosemary Welch said...

Maybe that doesn't explain enough. Allow me.

1. The most CO2 comes from trees and plants.
2. Want to get rid of carbon dioxide? Kill all the trees and plants.
3. Where do humans and animals get 02?
4. Not only would the trees, plants, fish, wales, dolphins, humans and everything else die, but we could finally get rid of those nasty cockroaches!
